De Mindstorms set is een van de leukere experimenteerdozen.

DE SETS DIE IK TOT NOG TOE VERWORVEN HEB
LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT (B8257):
Intelligent brick with 32-bit microprocessor; more memory and flash. Three interactive servo motors features built-in rotation sensors that aligns speed for precise control and new sound patterns and tones. 577 specially selected LEGO TECHNIC elements for sturdy and durable building and improved functionality and movement. Icon-based drag-and-drop program building environment

LEGO MINDSTORMS: Robotics Invention System 2.0 (3804):
De basis set bevat de programmeerbare brick, de  communicatie toren (USB), de software, enkele sensors (licht en tast), lego bouw elementen, etc.

MINDSTORMS Vision Command (9731):
A (Logitech) webcam in a Lego coat which can be connected to the USB port of the computer and can also be used in combination with RCX.

MINDSTORMS Exploration Mars (9736):
A bit of a disappointment this kit. When trying to build the lander I discoverd I needed building elements from the mindstorms kit, which I used for something else at that time, forcing me to quit. No additional sensors are included.

MINDSTORMS Ultimate Accessory Set (3801):
Some additional building blocks a remote control, a lamp for the mindstorms and the rotation sensor.

MINDSTORMS Ultimate Builders Set (3800):
Combine the Ultimate Builders Set with the Invention System to discover the secrets of the real master Builders from LEGOŽ who will guide you through challenging building projects. The set includes an extra gear motor, pneumatics and new must-have elements.

MINDSTORMS Dark Side Developer Kit (9754):
Build actual moving models of many different types of Star Wars vehicles and Droids. There are 3 manuals with models to build. The biggest is the AT-AT, It walks! The set has a motor and a light sensor that makes your models move (micro scout).

MINDSTORMS Droid Developer Kit (9748):
Create classic droids from the Star Wars: Episode I movie. Build and program R2-D2 and L-3GO droids. Includes the Micro Scout with a built in light sensor, motor and seven built-in programs. Each droid can be built separately using the same pieces. CD-ROM software specific to the Droid Developer kit is also included as well as a "Constructopedia".

LEGO MINDSTORMS BASICS
The LEGO Mindstorms RCX:

The > LEGO Temperature sensor reads from -20 degrees Celsius to +50 degrees Celsius. It is recognized by the RCX and is calibrated to read actual temperature.
I had to buy this sensor seperately. As far as I know Lego does not sell them anymore.

De LEGO Licht sensor leest licht van 0.6 Lux tot 760 Lux. Deze wordt herkend door de RCX en is in de firmware gekalibreerd op een 0-100 schaal.

The > LEGO Rotation sensor reads 16 positions per rotation. Resolution is 500 RPM Max. It is recognized by the RCX and is calibrated in the firmware to read in either angle/degrees or 16th's of a rotation.

The > LEGO Touch sensor is a 9-Volt digital sensor recognized by the RCX. It is calibrated in the firmware as a "true or false" switch.

LEGO 9 Volt Gear Motor:
The LEGO Gear Motor is special because of the internal gearing of the motor. Instead of requiring much external gearing, it is contains it inside the motor. This allows for applications demanding high torque with lower speed and little loss to friction. The Gear Motor is about 80% efficient. It is able to be powered from the LEGO Solar Cell, the LEGO 9V Battery box and the various LEGO Micro Computers.

Specifications (As a Motor)
  • 350 RPM @ 9 Volts free running (no load on motor)
  • 5 mA free running (no load on motor)
  • 350 mA Blocking current
  • 1 Volt will start motor turning free running (no load on motor)

Specifications (As a Generator)

  • Max RPM ~350
  • 9 Volt output @ 350 RPM
  • ~350 mA @ 350 RPM

Lego Micro Scout:
The Micro Scout The Micro Scout is a LEGO Microcomputer  that acts as the brain of your robot and is part of the Dark Side Developers Kit. Build familiar Imperial vehicles like the AT-AT walker, or create your own menacing robots. Use the built-in Light Sensor, motor and sound to bring your robots to life. The Micro Scout has a built-in light sensor and a built in motor. You can select from 7 built-in programs. Sound effects are also built in.
