| The LEGO Mindstorms
RCX: De RCX is een LEGO microcomputer die gebruikt wordt om robots of machines die zelfstandig kunnen bewegen en denken te ontwerpen, bouwen en programmeren. De RCX kan geprogrammeerd worden om te reageren op zijn omgeving door gerbuik te maken van verschillende input (sensors) en output (motoren en lampen) signalen. De RCX heeft 3 input poorten, 3 output poorten, 4 controle knoppen, een LCD display en een infrarood zender/ontvanger. Zijn voeding wordt geleverd door 6 AA batterijen. De 3 input poorten kunnen verbonden worden met tast, licht, temperatuur en rotatie sensoren. De 3 output poorten kunnen verbonden worden met LEGO output devices zoals motoren en lampen. De 4 controle knoppen worden gebruikt om de RCX aan of uit te zetten, een programma te selecteren, de RCX operatie te bekijken en om een geselecteerd programma te starten. |

Celsius. It is recognized by the RCX and is calibrated to read actual
temperature. I had to buy this sensor seperately. As far as I know Lego does not sell them anymore. |

Gear Motor:
The LEGO Gear Motor is special because of the internal gearing of the motor. Instead of requiring much external gearing, it is contains it inside the motor. This allows for applications demanding high torque with lower speed and little loss to friction. The Gear Motor is about 80% efficient.
